The X-ray Device That Crossed the Sea
A global journey that began with one device after the war
The First Overseas Step in 1952
Soon after World War II, a student who studied at The Ohio State University introduced a device brought from Japan. This chance encounter became the starting point of our global expansion. However, the path to formal exports was far from simple.
Unexpected Barriers
Overseas markets presented more hurdles than expected: export restrictions for non-limited-use X-ray systems, different radiation equipment regulations in each country, local power conditions unlike those in Japan, and frequent failures caused by unexpected usage patterns. Even so, driven by the desire to support healthcare with Japanese technology, we steadily improved one issue at a time.
Into Global Markets
We faced every problem directly, traveled to local sites when needed, and kept improving durability and safety. These steady efforts were recognized, and international distributors and partners gradually increased.
The photo above shows one of our partner companies from that era. Through close collaboration with partners in each country, we expanded our distribution network. As of 2026, we continue strong relationships with Mini X-Ray in the U.S. and DLC in Australia, and our products are used across many regions including the U.S., Australia, France, India, Taiwan, Iran, the U.K., Belgium, South Africa, and New Zealand.
Mikasa Manufacturing for the Future
Our overseas journey was also a place where our technology was refined. By repeatedly improving products according to local needs and environments, we strengthened durability, safety, and reliability. Stable global supply today is built on those years of trial and improvement. Behind every MIKASA portable X-ray system used worldwide is a long history that began with a single device soon after the war. We will continue delivering reliable technology to more medical sites around the world.
